The Afenifere Youth group has asked Adebanjo to step down ahead of the 2023 election. They want peace and think he should leave his position

The young people of the Yoruba culture group called Afenifere want to reorganize the whole group. They are led by a group called Afenifere Youth Organization of Nigeria (YAYON).

YAYON did not trust the leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, because he didn’t like the candidate for president from the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Young leader Eric Oluwole and women’s leader Bukola Olusooto led a protest in Akure, the capital of Ondo State. The young people said that the Yoruba Group needed to be cleaned up.

During their protest at the home of the national leader of Afenifere in Akure, a person named Oluwole spoke to reporters. They said that Adebanjo should stop being the acting leader of Afenifere right away.

The protesters held up signs with words like “Fasoranti, take away Adebanjo’s job now,” “Adebanjo needs to leave, Afenifere needs to change now,” and “Fasoranti, help Afenifere.” They also had signs that said “Ayo Adebanjo must leave Afenifere” and “Adebanjo should step aside.”

Oluwole said that Fasoranti is still the leader of the main Yoruba group.

He was sad that when Adebanjo became the leader of the group, he divided the group because of his own political goals.

We must not let a single person risk our future. We can’t keep going like this. Our leader in this Yoruba group is only Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and he is still our leader.

We want Pa Ayo Adebanjo to quit and not say he is the leader of Afenifere anymore.

“He has been performing in a play, and we have a letter because Baba (Fasoranti) wrote to him asking him to perform on his behalf.”

The situation has now changed and young people are involved. We want to be involved in changing Afenifere.

Baba Reuben Fasoranti is the only person we trust to tell Adebanjo to step down right away.

We think the protest can still be successful and we will return with a lot of people next time.

We need to be calm in Afenifere and we trust Pa Reuben Fasoranti to lead us.

He said that even our father (Fasoranti) cannot speak to him. We think he’s not the most powerful God of the Yoruba people and the whole world. We think we’re young and can still talk to him. If he can’t hear us, we have a plan.

We are not scaring or intimidating him. We think he should resign for the good of Afenifere. We want things to be peaceful and we want Baba Reuben Fasoranti to be in charge.

When Baba Abraham Adesanya was alive, he was very old and couldn’t lead Afenifere anymore. So, he asked Pa Reuben Fasoranti to lead instead. They continued having meetings at Baba Adesanya’s house until he passed away. Then, they chose Pa Reuben Fasoranti to be the new National Leader.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo should also have meetings at Pa Reuben Fasoranti’s house. All Afenifere meetings should be held there. Baba is still alive and doing well.

Lately, Pa Adebanjo punished two national officers, named Abagun Kunle Omololu and Jare Ajayi, for supporting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who belongs to our Yoruba community. Pa Adebanjo is causing the problem using his political thoughts.

The big problem is that he can’t suspend anyone without Baba Reuben Fasoranti’s permission, which is what Afenifere has always done.

Bukola Olusooto, the leader of the women’s group YAYON, said they don’t accept Adebanjo as the Acting Leader of Afenifere anymore.

Pa Fasoranti’s Chief Security Officer, Sunday Ogunkalu, spoke to the protesting young people and promised them that the group was not having problems and that they would find a way to make progress.

He asked the young people to stay calm and behave peacefully during their protest.

Pa Ayo Adebanjo says he doesn’t know the people protesting against him and he also doesn’t know their father. I don’t know the parents of those people. They are telling them to talk more.

Adebanjo said, “I already told you they aren’t real.” I believe some individuals paid others to pretend that something is happening in Afenifere.
