In anticipation of this year’s Ramadan fasting, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, or NSCIA, has urged Muslims in Nigeria to search for the crescent of Sha’aban 1445AH after sunset on Saturday, 29th Rajab, 1445AH (February 10, 2024).

In a statement, Prof. Salisu Shehu, the Deputy Secretary-General of the NSCIA, gave the order on behalf of Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto. She stated that, according to science, the moon will likely align at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024.

He added it’s crucial to remember that the moon typically appears and is visible for a considerable amount of time (even with other environmental circumstances) following the conjunction.

The eighth month of the lunar calendar, Sha’aban, signifies that this year’s Ramadan, the ninth month, is just over a month away, according to the Froshnaija.
