Former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki’s non-governmental organization (NGO) paid for all of John Okafor’s (Mr. Ibu) medical expenses.

This was announced in a Facebook post by the organization on Friday.

It says in the release:

Mr. John Okafor, better known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, has been a fixture on Nigerian television for the better part of four decades. The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation is proud to have provided financial assistance to this beloved national treasure.

After hearing about his recent health struggles and the costs involved with his treatment, we felt obligated to help in any way we could. On Wednesday, we paid off all of his medical bills in full.

Everyone who is able to contribute monetarily, emotionally, or spiritually is strongly encouraged to do so.

“May he have a speedy and full restoration of health.”

You may recall that Mr. Ibu’s health issue sparked many disputes in the entertainment industry, with many assuming that his coworkers had abandoned him.

The seasoned actor has been asking for donations ever since he said he was going through a hard patch.
