Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast, Mourinho said that Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is his closest football buddy.
Now, he hopes Peseiro makes history as the first Portuguese coach to win an AFCON.
“My closest football buddy is playing in the AFCON final.”
The coach from Nigeria is my closest friend. We went to school together and grew up together. We attended the same university and lived together every day for five years.
“We departed simultaneously; he is arguably my closest football buddy, and for him, a significant chance to create history, as no Portuguese coach has ever won the AFCON,” Mourinho remarked.
On Sunday night, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire will play in the AFCON final.
