Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has urged pilgrims planning to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Holy Hajj to pray for economic recovery in Nigeria and insecurity in Osun State.

Governor Adleke also stated that the economic hardship and insecurity facing the country calls for concerted prayers and efforts from every Nigerian. The plea was part of Adeleke’s address to the 1,835 prospective pilgrims at a farewell program organized for them at the Abel Mosque at the Foreign Affairs Secretariat.

Adeleke, who was represented by the Secretary of State, Teslim Igbalaja, also thanked the leadership of the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Committee for their efforts so far to promote the arrangement. “I pray that Almighty Allah crowns your efforts with complete success,”

He said.

He also warned the pilgrims that the state government would not allow any failure in the Hajj operation. He said,

“Thanking Allah for making this post possible under my leadership, I also thank Almighty Allah on behalf of you, our honorable pilgrims, for making it worthy to participate in this year’s Hajj despite the significant increase in cost.

“I pray that Allah continues to fill your pockets and accept your Hajj as an act of worship.” After reflecting on the level of preparation for the pilgrimage, Adelek explained,

“As far as the Osun State Government is concerned, we have taken all necessary steps to make this exercise memorable both on land and at sea.

“I understand that all the necessary vaccinations have been done and arrangements have been made for your smooth travel to the Hajj Terminal at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja. “I also know that the state government similarly provided accommodation very close to the land mosque in Makkah to make your stay in Saudi Arabia comfortable.
