Posted by Wahab Shittu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has stated that Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has lost his suit against President Bola Tinubu.
President Tinubu’s academic records were released by Chicago State University (CSU) on Monday, per an order from Justice Nancy Maldonado of the Northern District of Illinois Court, USA. The president’s attorney argued that the papers represent further evidence of Tinubu’s credentials.
As a result of the probes into Tinubu’s academic credentials, it is apparent that the PDP candidate’s case has come to an end, which was the stated goal of Atiku, who came in second place in the February 25 elections.
According to Shittu, the CSU has proven that Tinubu went there and that legitimate diplomas were given to him.
To be eligible for the presidency, a candidate must have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent, per the Constitution. The three degrees awarded by the school meet this benchmark.
He also mentioned that the university hasn’t denied issuing the 1979 certificate to the president, but has said it doesn’t keep copies of certifications it’s already awarded.
To quote President Tinubu: “That is an administrative and internal arrangement of the University, for which I cannot be held responsible.”
“Finally, there was not enough evidence to charge President Tinubu with forgery. The structure gave way.
The attorney claimed that all of the allegations made by Atiku against PDP candidate Tinubu have been refuted.
What did he say?
Three problems exist in this scenario. Does the Constitution recognize President Tinubu’s eligibility to serve? Indeed, that is the case.
Did President Tinubu fake his degree from Chicago State University? To put it simply, no.
Did he go to school at Chicago State? The answer is yes
Shittu elaborated that Atiku’s motivation for requesting the CSU information was to disprove President Tinubu’s claim that he attended the university and to disprove that Tinubu falsified a credential from the university.
Since Atiku finished second in the presidential election, Shittu said their “sole aim” is to have President Tinubu disqualified so that Atiku may take over the presidency.
