The new president, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, praised the previous president, Umar Musa Yar’Adua, for working hard to run the country fairly and well. Tinubu said he would also work hard to do the same.

Tinubu wrote some kind words about Yar’Adua who lived a meaningful life, according to the future president.

He spoke.
We remember our friend and leader, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who fought for democracy and good government in Nigeria. He passed away on this day 13 years ago, but we will never forget him.

May 5, 2010 happened a while ago, but some of us are still upset about it. We remember Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua and his meaningful life just as much as we remember the day he passed away.

I remember my friend and political colleague Yar’Adua with warmth. He was honest, loyal to his country and did a great job serving the people of Katsina State and Nigeria as their governor and president.

On May 29, I will become the leader of this country. I want to be like Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua, who was a great leader and served our country with kindness and without thinking about himself.

Keep resting, beloved brother. I hope that your soul will always be happy with your Creator. Amen.
