Three are detained by the NSCDC for allegedly printing counterfeit money in Zamfara

For allegedly producing fake dollar bills in the state, Zamfara police have detained at least three suspects.

The suspects were taken into custody by members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu, who was presenting the suspects on Wednesday at the NSCDC headquarters in Gusau, stated that they had been detained in connection with the production and distribution of counterfeit Nigerian and American currency. S. the state’s dollar bills.

The suspects, who are ages 28 and 29, were detained in Gusau on April 3 while attempting to pay a transportation fare with a fake N1,000 note in the state, according to the commandant, who was represented by the command’s spokesman, Ikor Oche.

He said: “The Keke Napep operator was able to recognize the fake note and raised an alarm that resulted in the arrest of the culprits.”.

According to him, preliminary investigations showed that one of the suspects had been involved in the illegal activity for a year.

Oche continued, “The suspect confessed to having been introduced to the illegal act by a native of Tsafe Local Government Area.”.

According to the commandant, the suspect admitted that a fellow conspirator was supplying the fake money and that each fake N1,000 note was exchanged for N400.

“The operatives of the NSCDC traced the supplier of the fake currency notes to Kwartarkwarshi village,” he said. “The prime suspect, who is currently at large, is a resident of this village.”.

Oche disclosed that 1,600 fake US dollars and 60,000 fake Nigerian naira notes were seized from the suspects.
