An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered the remand of a pair of twins, Taiwo and Kehinde Sunday, at the detention facility on Monday for allegedly stealing electronics and other items worth N825,000 from a home.

The 19-year-old twin brothers are being charged with two counts each of theft and housebreaking.

Inspector Olubu Apata, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants committed the crime on January 28 at around 1am in Ilupeju, Ekiti.

According to Apata, “the defendants broke into the home of one Ogunyemi Kayode, took electronics, a mattress, and other expensive items worth N825,000 that belonged to the complainant, and carted them away. “.

The prosecutor stated that the offenses violated sections 412, 323(a), and (c) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

In the interim, until the Director of Public Prosecution’s office could provide legal counsel, he urged the court to remand the defendants to the correctional facility.

The defendants were remanded by Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika pending the issuance of legal advice, and the case was continued until April 27 for mention.
