The First Lady of Ekiti is Joyful as Women Take 6 of the 26 Legislative Seats

Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti’s wife, on Monday extended congratulations to all of the elected members of the state’s House of Assembly, particularly the six female members.
Six of the 26 House of Assembly seats in Ekiti were won by women at the conclusion of voting on March 18.

The governor’s wife expressed her happiness that six of the 26 elected members are women and thanked the electorate for their support, which, she claimed, contributed to the outstanding victory at the polls.

Oyebanji urged the people of Ekiti to remain steadfast in their support for the governor. to increase the number of women serving in public office under the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration.

As the state with the most women in the House of Assembly, she pointed out that Ekiti would now be seen as a trailblazer and role model for other states.

Similar to this, Mrs. Olubunmi Adelugba, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, expressed her joy over the increased number of female candidates elected to the Assembly.

She described the change as another manifestation of women’s empowerment.

“I am glad to see that there are more women legislators than ever before.

The 7th Assembly would be ideal, especially now that there are more women, she said, because wherever there are women, there is sanity. This is something I always tell my returning colleagues.

Bose Olowookere (APC-Efon), Iyabo Fakunle-Okiemeh (APC-Ilejemeje), and Mariam Ogunlade (APC-Emure) are three of the six elected women who make up the Assembly.

Princess Teju Okuyiga (APC-Gbonyin), Mrs. Bolaji Olagbaju (APC-Ado II), and Mrs. Abimbola Solanke (APC-Moba) are the others.

Each of the elected female members expressed gratitude to the governor’s wife and all the women of Ekiti for their support before, during, and after the elections.

They pledged to keep their word and not let down the women and people of the state in order to live up to the trust placed in them.

The Oyebanji-led administration and the incoming 7th Assembly were urged to receive more support.
