The Kaduna office of the group that catches people who do bad things with money has proven that a woman named Oluwayemisi Samuel and her son Joshua Samuel lied, and they were punished by the court in Kaduna State.

The agency said this in a message on their website on Wednesday.

The statement says that Oluwayemisi and her son spent a lot of money (N5.6M) on gambling. Then they lied and complained to the agency, saying that someone stole the money from their account and put it into a gambling account without their permission.

The numbers are counted separately.
This statement says that Oluwayemisi Samuel and Hezekiah Samuel did something wrong in March 2023 in Kaduna State. They gave false information to a group called the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. This information was used to investigate their complaint to the Commission. They knew the information was false, which is against the law.

You, Joshua Samuel (male) and Hezekiah Samuel did something wrong in March 2023 in Kaduna state. You lied to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission about something and they used your lie to investigate your complaint. You knew that what you told them was false, so you broke the law. This is against Section 16(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 and you can be punished for it under Section 16(2) of the same Act.

They admitted they did what they were accused of. Justice Bello found the two guilty and gave them each seven years in prison or the option to pay N150,000 as a fine.
