Rescind My Suspension Within 48 Hours, or Else I Will Resign From PDP — Shehu Shema

Former governor of Katsina State Ibrahim Shehu Shema has given the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee (PDP NWC) 48 hours to lift his suspension or consider expelling him from the Party.

The PDP leader also requested that the NWC dissolve the “illegal caretaker committee” of the PDP in Katsina and recognize the executive committee of the State that had been “duly elected.”.

In a letter dated March 24 and addressed to Iyorchia Ayu, the Party’s national chairman, Shema stated that if the decisions on the two issues he raised were not reversed, the letter would serve as his formal and official withdrawal from the PDP, which would take effect on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

I must leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in accordance with Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s laws, as he has a responsibility to uphold, defend, and preserve our constitution within the bounds of his authority.

“It is in the height of these developments that I make the following appeals: Rescind the National Working Committee (NWC) decision of unlawful dissolution of Katsina State duly elected Executive Committee and allow them to complete their tenure and disband the purported caretaker committee similar to which so many court decisions in the land have illegalised.

“Within the following 48 hours, reverse the National Working Committee’s (NWC) decision to suspend me from the party.

The letter stated, in part, “Take notice that failure to implement the two aforementioned changes within forty-eight (48) hours, this letter serves as the formal and official withdrawal of my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) effective from Saturday, March 25, 2023.”.
