Femi Adesina, who speaks for the President, said that Buhari talked at a meeting in London with leaders from the group of countries called the Commonwealth, on Friday.
Remember that Buhari left the country to go to the crowning of Charles III as the new king of the United Kingdom and leader of the Commonwealth.
President Buhari said that Nigerian young people helped a lot in the elections and in making the country better.
Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress party won the election for president and will become the president on May 29th after being declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1st.
Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi are trying to say that Tinubu didn’t really win the election in court.
Buhari thinks the elections in Nigeria went well because lots of people voted and it was not violent.
Many people voted in the elections showing that Nigeria’s democracy is getting better. Buhari said that even though there were some violent incidents, they were able to elect a government peacefully and fairly.
We’ve learned from our mistakes and we’re aiming to do even better from now on. I am happy to say that we have made progress in improving our democracy by having fair, honest, and believable results.
We know that there are still problems, but we promise to help more Nigerians, even those living outside the country, have a say in how the government works.
Today, I want to talk to you knowing that it will be my last time doing so as I will no longer be in my job on May 29th, 2023. I will miss working with His Majesty The King and some of you. I am very thankful and honored for this special moment.
I worked well with the Commonwealth leaders to make sure we follow the values and beliefs shared by everyone in the group. We want to be a strong and respected group that helps make people’s lives better. We are working hard to achieve this.
