INEC said that Fintiri has won the Adamawa Governorship Election

Ahmadu Fintiri, who is part of the PDP political party, has won the election to become Governor of Adamawa State in 2023.

Fintiri and Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru were running for governor in 2023. They were competing against each other, and Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru was the only female candidate.

The group responsible for counting votes in Adamawa said the governorship election results were unclear.

Fintiri got more votes than Binani Dahiru in the election. Fintiri got 421,524 votes and Binani Dahiru got 390,275 votes. Fintiri won against Binani by more than 30,000 votes. The governor won in more places than Binani in the election in Adamawa. He won in 13 areas, while Binani won in eight.

The person in charge of collecting election results in the state is called the Collation Officer, and they are a professor. Mohammed Mele said that 69 voting places won’t have elections. This means that 37,016 people who could have voted in those places won’t be able to.

Fintiri got the most votes, but INEC said there were too many cancelled votes for him to be declared the winner. The difference between Fintiri and the runner-up, Binani, wasn’t big enough. So, the election for the governor of Adamawa State wasn’t finished yet, according to them.

After the extra election in the state on Saturday, April 15, the person in charge of counting the votes (the State collation officer, Prof.) made an announcement. Mele announced 10 out of 20 local government results before Barr declared Binani as the winner of the election. This declaration was disputed by some people. The Commission said that Hudu Yunusa Ari did something that was against the law and the constitution.

On Sunday, the Commission stopped counting votes because the current governor won 7 out of 10 areas.

The total votes for Fintiri were 425,816 and Binani had 393,403 votes. Fintiri was still in the lead after combining the new votes with the previous ones.

On Tuesday, during the vote counting, a high-ranking official named Prof. was in charge. This person is called the INEC Chief Returning Officer for the Election. Mohammed Mele said Fintiri won the 2023 Governor election in Adamawa State.

Fintiri won the election with 430,861 votes. Binani from the APC party came second with 396,788 votes.

So basically, the people in charge have said that Ahmadu Fintiri will be the Governor of Adamawa again.
