In Kano State, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has detained 352 suspects and seized 2 point 1 tonnes of illicit drugs.

Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the state’s NDLEA commander, revealed this information in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kano.

The seizures and arrests, according to Idris-Ahmad, took place between January and March.

According to him, there were 44 females and 208 male suspects among those detained, and 955.304 kg of cannabis sativa and 1,225.05 kg of codeine and tramadol were among the drugs that were seized.

Others, according to him, included 52 grams of methamphetamine, 25 grams of cocaine, and 17 grams of heroin.

The agency’s chief challenge in the state, according to the commander, is persuading localities to come forward with information about drug dealers operating among them.

The ability to inform the locals about the locations of drug dealers or users whose activities have continued to have a detrimental effect on society is our challenge.

In order for the public to provide helpful information to ensure a drug-free society, Idris-Ahmad said that people should be aware of the dangers that drug users or traffickers pose in society.

Therefore, he made an appeal to the general public to provide the command with useful and timely information on drug traffickers in order to capture them and protect society.
