The Italian was reacting to Morata’s emotional celebration with Willian when the Spaniard scored Chelsea’s winning goal against Vidi in the Europa League at the Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
Morata had buried his head in the Brazilian’s shoulder for several seconds after scoring the goal.
Asked about the celebration, Sarri told post match press conference, “I don’t know, but if he wants to cry after a goal then I hope to see him cry more often.”
Sarri also said he believes the former Juventus striker can “restart” his season at Chelsea with the goal.
The 25-year-old had scored only once this season and had been under heavy criticism before Thursday’s clash at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri added, “I am very happy for him to score.
“It was important to play a good match, I think he did that. It was important to play for the team like this evening. Alvaro can restart from this point.
“I don’t want to talk about the opponents. They played their match, I think Alvaro only has to think about our match, not the opponents.
“I think he has played very well, better than the last period and I think he can restart from this performance. Sometimes you can start from this.
“He is a very important player. At the moment we have Alvaro and Giroud, but we have to play every three days for a long time, I hope.
“He is an important player for our season, both Alvaro and Olivier.”
