Mrs Pauline Tallen, the former Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on suspicion of money laundering.

Tallen was questioned by EFCC operatives at its zonal offices in Wuse, Abuja, according to sources close to the situation.

Though the details of the claims against the ex-minister were unclear, a person acquainted with the issue informed reporters that it involved corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2 billion.

“The ex-minister arrived at our Abuja Zonal Command (not the headquarters) on invitation around 12pm, but she is still being questioned by commission investigators as of 8:30pm.”

“She is being investigated for alleged fund misappropriation and corrupt enrichment to the tune of N2 billion, with a portion of the money allegedly diverted from the African First Lady Peace Mission Project.”

Wilson Uwujaren, the commission’s spokesperson, could not be reached by press time.
