Just before the new government starts, President Muhammad Buhari has decided to hand back control of the religious Obalende Eid Prayer Ground to the Lagos Jama’atul Muslimeen Council of the Lagos Central Mosque.

President Buhari said it’s okay after a group looked into problems between Muslim people in Lagos and the government. Garba Shehu, who helps the President with communication, made a statement about it.

President Buhari said that all government agencies should acknowledge and respect the fact that the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground is owned by the Jama’atul Muslimeen Council of the Lagos Central Mosque.

He said to stop using the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground as a dump and to clean up all the garbage there right away. The people in charge of Dodan Barracks will take care of it.

The President said that the people who follow the Muslim religion should be allowed to go to the Obalende Eid Prayer Ground whenever they want.

He suggested that the Lagos State Government might consider granting the Jama’atal Muslimeen Council a piece of land and give them legal permission to use it.
