The nationwide 2023 Direct Entry registration period has resumed, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

This was revealed at a press conference on Monday in Abuja by Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB.

The JAMB director stated that the deadline for DE registration would be April 28, 2023.

Oloyede bemoaned the high rate of A Level diploma fraud that was occurring during registration.

The JAMB Registrar stated that new rules had been implemented by the board to prevent such behavior.

He spoke.
You may recall that the board started the 2023 Direct Entry registration on Monday, February 20, 2023, but had to suspend it right away after finding a plethora of methods and devices to get around and undermine the standard of A’ Level credentials required from DE candidates.

“Keep in mind that recent joint investigations into DE qualifications by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission exposed some of these shady and nefarious activities.

The high rate of fake A-Level diplomas for DE has also been consistently brought up by Bayero University, Kano.

“The Board, concerned stakeholders, and institutions are diligently looking for such, and those that have been found are being dealt with in accordance with the law’s provisions. “.

Oloyede continued by saying that only 13 credentials would be recognized by the Board for registration in the 2023 Direct Entry program. These credentials include a first degree, a university diploma, a Higher National Diploma, an Ordinary National Diploma, a National Diploma, and a Nigeria Certificate in Education.

For example, it was found that some candidates in previous years registered for Direct Entry using questionable and forged A’ level certificates/qualifications and were eventually admitted. For instance, only six of the 148 candidates who had been verified by BUK were determined to be legitimate. Thus, it can be assumed that 142 of the outcomes were faked.

“Others include Interim Joint Matriculation Board A’ Level, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board A’ Level, NABTEB Advanced National Business Certificate, NABTEB Advanced National Technical Certificate, NABTEB GCE-A’ Level (2015 – 2021), Higher Islamic Studies Certificate by NBAIS, International Baccalaureate, and the National Registered Nurse/National Registered Midwife. “.

The 127 candidates who had previously registered for the 2023 DE before the exercise was suspended, he added, would be asked to visit the registration centers again and update their application.

The head of JAMB also disclosed that the data bank created to address issues with A-Level qualifications had been renamed to the “Nigeria Post-secondary Education Data System.”.
